Physical training on your Bike
02/07/10
There are a number of cyclists who are more concerned about their off season training sessions. Most trainers feel that this is more crucial time for cyclists to get involved with their training sessions as during this time most cyclists might in fact get out of practice due to a number of limitations. This is also the time of the year when most cyclist loose their physical fitness and stamina due to lack of practice and training. You can always make use of slow frequency repetitions to complement the session you are missing with your personal gym. This is a type of program that focuses mostly on less cardiovascular intensity, less cadence and greater torque.
With this workout it is important that you concentrate on being one of the best pedaler. Developing the skills over a period of time can help any cyclist achieve his goal. You have to try and locate a terrain for your practice. Looking around for a steady grade hill is always one of the best options, but always ensure that it should not be too much steep or else you might get exhausted climbing the hill. You should in fact be able to cycle without much resistance in your upper part of the body. In case you are unable to find any such hill then you can also perform this workout on the flat road, but ensure to do it on higher RPM.
You have to try and select appropriate gear depending on the type of hill you selected to practice. When training during off season it is important that you limit the time of your practice. As you are making use of high torque so there are chances that it may have adverse effects on your ankles and knees.
