Bike, push bike or bicycle is a human powered and pedal driven vehicle. It has two wheels, one behind the other. Person riding the bicycle is called the cyclist. They were introduced somewhere in the 19th century and were one of the primary mode of transportation in the early times. But still the number of bicycles is more than the number of automobiles.
This machine is over the top in both mechanical and biological ways. In the biological point of view it doesn’t cause any pollution which is the main problem of all the automobiles. In mechanical terms, 99 percent of the energy of the rider is transmitted to the pedals. Bicycle commuting mainly reduces the risk of human life, offers a health body due to calories burnt while pedaling and last but not the least is economically very cheap. But yes as there are limitations to everything there are some offsets to this machine too and they are the security risk, limitation to travel long distance and increased travel time.
They are a very good mode of entertainment for the kids and they also serve the fitness purpose. Other than these they are used for mountain biking, bicycle touring, racing, courier service, mail delivery etc.
Most people have a cycle parked in the backyard of their homes. Most people also ride on cycles to work on weekdays or week ends. We have our cycles maintained once a year by professional garage or a cycle shop. This is a very nice task, but you may have to spend more amount of money to maintain your cycle up-to-date. You can also try to maintain your cycle on your own so you save both time and money. You can always begin by setting up a working area in the back of your garage that has enough space so you can easily approach your cycles from all four sides. Start by placing news papers and rags so the floor does not get greasy. It is important to wipe the cycle fork and frame with a wet and dry cloth. Tubes are delicate so they need to be polished regularly. In case there are any dents or cracks then you have to approach the professional. Rims are important parts of your cycle, so you have to try and clean them properly. Try spinning the wheels and see if it wobbles or not. Check the tires for pressure as your cycle should easily roll on the road. Brakes are very important especially if you are riding to job daily or even week ends. After spinning the wheel, you have to check with the brakes if they are working perfectly or not. You can also try to adjust the power of the brakes to your personal desires. You have to make such adjustments that the brakes are not too loose or tight. Replace the brake pads if they are damaged as they won’t cost much.
