A bike safety check may be performed quick over once check looking for anything that may be considered as unsafe before going out. It may be something that may need a quick maintenance. This may help in preventing accidents and mechanical failure that may in fact ruin your race. So, here are a few tips that you need to look for.
Check the wheels by grabbing and shaking them. You have to check if the wheel moves of is fixed properly. If it moves you have to tighten the hub of your wheel. Pick the bike and spin your wheel. Look for the side sway. See if the brake pads touch the free rotating wheel. See if the brakes are working properly or else you may have to face problem. Try pinching a couple of spokes between fingers. This may help you ensure they have proper tension. Before riding ensure that the tires are properly inflated.
This may be important for your safety so that you prevent flats while riding. Try to look for any cracks in the wheel rubber. If there are cracks then the best option would be to change the wheel. Before you begin, you have to check the brakes. See if they grip tight or lose. They have to be perfect. You have to be sure that you don’t have to apply too much of force while applying them. After this, try to look for any loose part or screws. See if no part is missing or even needs repair. These are a few safety measures that you have to consider before going racing on your bike.
